I joined Highgate Vets in August 2005 to work as a receptionist during my gap year, before starting my degree in Zoology at the University of Leeds. Throughout my degree I returned to Highgate during the holidays to cover support staff leave and I carried out an administrative role here following graduation. In January 2011 I started the Level 3 Diploma in Veterinary Nursing at Myerscough College and became a Registered Veterinary Nurse in August 2013.
In September 2016, I was promoted to Practice Manager and so I now work full time in the upstairs office and across both surgeries. I am responsible for the day to day running of the practice. This involves a wide variety of tasks supporting Liz and the team to make sure that they have the resources needed such as equipment, IT support and Health and safety.
I am also involved in recruitment, training and planning the vet rotas. I completed a post-graduate Certificate in Veterinary Business Management with Liverpool University with Distinction in August 2018.
I live locally with my young Border Terrier Otto, who joins me in the office daily so you’re likely to see him. We enjoy walks in woodland and open areas where he can run and meet other dogs. I have played the flute since childhood and am part of Flutes & Co, a Kendal-based flute choir with over 30 other flautists of all ages.
