I grew up with a variety of family pets on the south coast of Hampshire. I qualified from the Royal Veterinary College, London in 1995. During my studies I regularly saw practice at Kirkby Stephen and it was no surprise to my family that I came north to Garstang for my first job. Initially I wanted to be a cow vet but was gradually drawn towards the smaller animals as jobs changed. I joined Highgate in 2001 concentrating on the companion animal side of the then mixed practice. I am the clinical coach for our trainee vet nurse and oversee her learning in practice. The best part of my job is meeting people and chatting to them and their pets. My particular interests are eyes, small furries and surgery.
When not at work I look after a black Labrador, 2 siamese cats, 2 rabbits, 8 hens, 1 goldfish, 2 children and a husband (not necessarily in that order!). I live out of town and have helped in the restoration of our house. I enjoy being outside, walking or gardening and like to bake with the children. I try to find time to read – usually an autobiography.
