Highgate Vets and I paired up permanently in 2010 after a period of maternity locum cover – I’m eternally grateful to Liz Dodd’s Tom for coming along! I’ve worked in Cumbria/North Lancashire for most of my career, but did live and work in Mauritius for six months to run a neutering clinic for the MSPCA – a girl’s gotta get some sun!
My professional interests span both medicine and surgery; I love the challenge of dermatology cases and am equally excited by both soft tissue, dental and orthopaedic surgery. After personal experience with my own dog, I developed an interest in physiotherapy and pain management. I’m now holder of the Certificate in Canine Rehabilitation Therapy; have completed the Western Veterinary Acupuncture/Chronic Pain management course and recently attained membership of the Canine Clinical Massage Guild. I’m now in a position to offer our clients pets help and support for mobility issues e.g. osteo-arthritis, post-surgical physiotherapy, full lameness assessments and treatment plans including acupuncture and massage as complimentary therapies.
When not at work, I spend my time looking after 4 tortoises and a tank of fish! Exploring the Lakes has never lost its appeal; I love fell walking and cycling and am about to swop my boots for a wetsuit and get in the water this summer! Having recently acquired an allotment, any remaining spare time and energy will be directed at persuading fruit and veg to grow up here in the Lake District climate!
