I joined Highgate Vets in August 2005 to work as a receptionist during my gap year, before starting my degree in Zoology at the University of Leeds. Throughout my degree I returned during the holidays to cover support staff leave and I carried out an administrative role following graduation. In January 2011 I started the Level 3 Diploma in Veterinary Nursing at Myerscough College and became a registered veterinary nurse in August 2013.
In September 2016, I was promoted to Practice Manager and so I now work full time in the office and across both surgeries. I am responsible for the day to day running of the practice. This mainly involves supporting the team to make sure that they have the resources needed such as overseeing stock control and making sure the computers are behaving! I am involved in recruitment, training and planning the vet rotas. I also work on marketing the practice online and offline, including practice promotions and leaflets. I finished a post-graduate Certificate in Veterinary Business Management with Liverpool University in August 2018, achieving a Distinction Grade in each module.
I live on a dairy farm with Holstein heifers and 3 free ranging hybrid hens. I enjoy helping on the farm, especially driving the quad bike and feeding the calves. I have played the flute since I was 7 years old and am part of Flutes & Co, a Kendal-based flute choir with over 30 other flautists of all ages.
