I grew up on a livestock farm to the east of Kendal and loved being out with the farm animals, dogs and cats. After university I joined the Royal Air Force where I met my husband and, between my career and his, I moved around for 27 years, including living in the USA, Germany and Turkey. My husband recently retired from the RAF and we have returned to Cumbria where we intend to stay!
As well as my early career in the RAF, I have worked in Human Resources and also as a teacher, teaching ‘English as a Foreign Language’. I have now taken up the challenge of becoming a receptionist at the Highgate Veterinary Clinic. My role involves telephone work, booking appointments, fulfilling prescriptions to name a few of the tasks and no two days are the same. There is a lot to learn but I love to find out new things and I really enjoy helping people and their pets.
Outside work, I enjoy walking and hiking, and my husband and I can often be found out on the fells. We have a 10 year old ex-military search dog to keep us company and he seems to enjoy his hikes as much as we do. In addition, we are looking for a new home with the hope of having sufficient land to keep a few chickens and possibly some bees.
